THIS FACE

'This Face'  by  Trish
What questions rest within the eyes?
What knowledge upon the full mouth?

There is no answer likely to come, from
one who is so still, stark of mind, and heart.
Judgment is not what I place upon this face,
It is what I feel.

Who  is it looks from a hiding place,
holds secrets tight, teeth clenched to
leave the tongue, limp, lifeless.
Clamps shut the jaw, locks the heart's door?

There is an invisible wall between this face
and the world, of clear glass or steel?  Or is it,
a sheet of rain one can walk through, and
once on the other side, bathe the dust from their eyes. There's no answer likely to come from one who is so still, stark of mind and heart.

Let me stop and reflect on my words. If this soul
can't speak, then who will? And if the wall is
not glass or steel, but is the moisture, required to loosen tongue
and all?  Who will take the first step into the living stream?
