'Tradition' by Trish |
When I get to where I'm going, it mustn't get wet!
I'm heading to the sea, for a very particular parade,
My costume cost a lot, it was especially made.
My father took my picture for our family album
He says 'pictures contain memories, mother calls it nostalgia.'
Whatever the reason for my picture, in spite of what father said,
Most of the photos in our album are of folks long dead.
Not that I'm worried about that, nothing will happen to me
I'm going to live forever, and I won't go in the sea,
Even though our parade is very near the water,
I'll be there to represent, my father's, father, and my father, as a daughter.
(To be continued)
Trish
