'Joy' by Trish |
A new day dawns; like a parched bird
My mouth opens to drink the dew,
Colors of the world, the yellow of the sun,
Hues of trees and plants, the sheen on water,
On wings of a bird. I will laugh and I will play,
With you, with all.
For, I am an escaped prisoner,
Never to be imprisoned again,
I'll smile and dance my way into heaven,
As I did out of hell. I'll tell marvelous,
Miraculous tales, of the bad, and of good as well.
I'll clasp the hands of friends, the finger tips of enemies,
Say welcome, welcome to you one and all,
Sit, a moment, let me tell you my poems, sing you my songs.
And so, then you shall know me ,
Know me and mine, and maybe I can know you and yours,
That way we'll have a picture of where we've been.
That may allow all ,to feel they fit in.
