THE BEGINNING OF IT ALL

'Joy'   by  Trish

A new day dawns; like a parched bird
My mouth  opens to drink  the dew,
Colors of the world, the yellow of the sun,
Hues of trees and plants, the sheen on water,
On wings of a bird. I will laugh and I will play,
With you, with all.

For, I am an escaped prisoner,
Never to be imprisoned again,
I'll smile and dance my way into heaven,
As I did out of hell. I'll tell marvelous,
Miraculous tales, of the bad, and  of good as well.

I'll clasp the hands of friends, the finger tips of enemies,
Say welcome, welcome to you one and all,
Sit, a moment, let me tell you my poems, sing you my songs.

And so, then you shall know me ,
Know me  and mine, and maybe I can know you and yours,
That way we'll have a picture of where we've been.
That may allow all ,to feel they  fit in.

LOST FOR WORDS

As a crazed ghost, she scratched at the window Clawed at the panes of glass, plucked at the lock.

But I had locked her out! good and tight,
Sealed myself inside safely, good and tight.
Sealed myself inside of a dark airless room,
Lest she get to me while I slept.

But all that was long ago, the rush of memories falter,
Words too, fail, under a child's memories force, and like a thief
Caught in the act, they  run and dare not look back.

THE MIRROR

' The Wanderer'  by  Trish
Always, a face in the mirror
Beside mine,
It hovers like a pale moon
Holds beauty hard to describe.

Perhaps if I spoke to the image?
Asked "What is it you want?"
Perhaps, then, the wanderer
Would melt away and in its place
There'd be just me,
Real, flesh and blood.

UNCERTAINTY

'The Score'  by  Trish
 (Control)
"Who's there?"
"Uncertainty is my name, the sword
That presses, pricks then makes a sharp entrance,
Into the conscious realms of calm.
The sword that spears its ruthless sabre ,
Into the hopeless heart".

"Who speaks?"
"Uncertainty, and you are  my prey,
Caught tight in the grip of your defeat
Pressed into the ground, by my perfectly balanced claw

My eyes pierce you my presence engulfs you
Prepare to be devoured, by Uncertainty"
Long did she reign

WHAT'S WRONG? AND WHY IS IT SO?

There's an ache in my gut, been there for ever
Refuses to go away.
There's a scar on my brain,  a sinful stain
Wouldn't wash clean, in a river

There's a defect in me, hard to pin down
But it's there all the same.
Dug deep down inside me, can't, let it rest
I've got my rights to claim.

And a scar on my cheek in the shape of a tear
From a deluge, long , long ago,
Reminds me, faithfully, don't ever forget,
until you can learn how to know.

There's a wound in my heart, that drip drops daily
Just like a leaky tap,
A washer won't fix it, nor a coin wedged twixt it,
So on I wander gaily.

I saw a face in the mirror, someone I'm afraid  of,
she lives in the shadows of my life.
She's deadly dangerous, I might need to kill her,
Not once, not four times, but thrice.

SACRED SALT
---------------------------
She is a rainbow fish,
Carved from Sacred Salt
A reflection of springtime's eternal devotion
On a rainbow she soars, brings balm
Carried by rivers of rain

She is a bird, wings from an open heart, feather
Spread rainbow rays, breathe living waters
Over a city's mournful gladness
She is carved from Sacred Salt.

CHANGING THE TEMPO
 -------------------------
Each day I stare into the  light, each night the dark
And all the while my heart beats a tempo from the past

I stir my limbs to action, draw a deeper breath
But the deeper I go, the nearer I am, to fear, terror and death.

Who is this silent tormentor, who pushes, pulls or stops
Me cutting  my own shape, out of  hand me down cloth.

I sense this other someone, who has me running wild
Even heard a voice, that of a distressed  child.

And so I lick my wounds, stifle nightime's  scream
When murky shadows turn to monsters, in my  land of dreams.

Let my  breath, pant  its erratic tempo,
Meanwhile  as day turns to night,
I prepare myself a strategy, and also,
practice how to bite!
